Ottilien Kirche Lörrach Tüllingen

Almost at the top of the hill, in Obertüllingen, lies the small Ottilienkirche church. Not only the fresco of three women inside the church, attributed to Konrad Witz, is worth a visit. From the stone terrace in front of the church you have a marvellous view: from the Black Forest over the Jura to the Southern Vosges. Ottilien Church, first mentioned in 1173, is the subject of numerous legends and is known as one of the mythical places on the Upper Rhine.

Lörrach is also part of the tri-national project 'Mythical Places on the Upper Rhine'.

Lörrach's Ottilienkirche church in the district of Tüllingen is one of the three 'sisters' around which many legends revolve. The two hills around Basel (Bettingen and Chrischona) and the Tüllinger Berg in Lörrach are known as the three sisters.

Legend has it that three sisters, daughters of a knight of Pfeffingen Castle, settled there after the murder of their lovers by their father and used light signals to communicate with each other.
