The hike in the Schlichemtal nature reserve connects the municipalities of Epfendorf and Dietingen-Böhringen and leads to one of the region's most spectacular natural spectacles. Over the course of thousands of years, the Schlichem has carved a steep, winding valley into the shell limestone. This has created numerous cascades, cataracts and pools just before it flows into the Neckar: the Schlichem Gorge, where the water gushes over terraced stone walls against the backdrop of steep cliffs. For castle fans, a detour to the nearby castle ruins of Irslingen is well worthwhile.
