Experience nostalgic flair surrounded by beautiful nature on the Sauschwänzlebahn railway. The route runs 25 kilometres from Blumberg-Zollhaus to Weizen over four bridges, through six tunnels and back again.
The Sauschwänzlebahn railway is operated in true style by a historic diesel locomotive, steam locomotive and carriages. The locomotive has a lot to do when it comes to overcoming the 231 metres in altitude. Every journey out of the railway stations and every steep climb becomes a unique listening experience.
However, when we talk about the Sauschwänzlebahn, we are not referring to the locomotives, but to the line itself. Anyone who thinks of a little pig when they hear the name of the Sauschwänzlebahn is also wrong. Instead, the museum railway takes its name from one of its tunnels. The "Große Stockhalde" forms a spiral in its course. The train travels once in a circle in the tunnel, so to speak, overcoming more than 15 metres in altitude. And because this route in the tunnel as a whole is reminiscent of a curled pig's tail, the railway line is called the Sauschwänzlebahn.
A ride on the Sauschwänzle railway can also be wonderfully combined with a hike along the Sauschwänzle trail. First you walk through nature - then take the Sauschwänzlebahn railway back again. The perfect combination of exercise and adventure!
