At the Harksattel above the Hark inn, the hiker rejoins the Westweg. The trail leads across the mountain meadows into the forest and around the Regeleskopf to the Kreuzsattel. Shortly afterwards, at the "Am Reiherskopf" signpost, the Brandenkopf variant of the Westweg branches off. The main trail leads eastwards on the slope of the Reiherskopf to Hirzwasen.
The variant bypasses the Reiherskopf to the north and crosses the Brandenkopfstraße at the Steiglehütte. From there, the route leads through dense forest and past moss-covered boulders up to the observation tower and the inn at the summit of the Brandenkopf. The descent now leads together with the Hansjakob Trail just below the Bettelfrau to Hirzwasen.
From now on, the Westweg remains true to the course of the ridge between the lovely Einbach valley and the Wolf valley. Sometimes to the right, sometimes to the left of the ridge, it crosses the Hesselbacher Höhe, the Burzbühl (713m) and the Ebenacker saddle and reaches the Hohenlochenhütte, romantically situated on a rock. A wooden sign "Aussicht" (view) indicates the short detour to Hohenlochen (689m), which offers a beautiful view of the Wolftal valley.
At the Osterbachsattel, the Westweg leaves the forest, with the Käppelehof farm below, surrounded by orchards. Behind the White Cross and a pretty path at the edge of the forest, the narrow forest path climbs up to the striking Spitzfelsen rock. The view from the cross of nearby Hausach and the side valleys of the Kinzig makes up for all the effort. Narrow hairpin bends at the edge of the forest lead down to the Kinzig, from where it is only a few metres to Hausach via the Kinzig bridge.
